July
proved to be a fantastic month for golf
and by month’s end, the course was in
fantastic shape. We are grateful to
Mother Nature’s support and Fred’s crews
hard work. Any memory of tough greens is
a faded memory.
We are
over half way through the season and
both the Captain’s Cup and the
two-person fun matches are well
underway. Thus far, the reports on the
new format match play have been very
positive and a welcome change.
The
highlight of the Ladies League came at
the end of the month with an invitation
to the ladies of Stratford Country Club
and the Municipal Course. It resulted in
an immediate and positive response
bringing 36 guests to play with 36 of
our own for a fun nine hole scramble.
Given the amount of laughter and the
number of positive comments, the
invitation was long overdue. Thanks to
the pro shop, members Ian Weber and Rick
Johnson, and to Tupperware
Representative Jen Ehnes for the donated
door prizes. There were 28 golf prizes
awarded to our guests and our ladies and
the $111.00 50/50 draw went to Bonnie
Fischer. The women were treated to a
roast beef dinner with all the trimmings
and we owe a special ‘thank you’ to
Jackie, Judy, and Michelle for their
delicious meal and for staying much
later than usual. Their efforts were
much appreciated by guests and members
alike.
We have
a game night and one more fun night
planned for August. There is a whole lot
of action yet to come on ladies nights!
I
encourage all the ladies to get their
matches completed in a timely fashion so
that the competitions can proceed
without unnecessary delays.
The
Ladies Golf League executive is already
making plans for the closing event
scheduled for Sunday September 26th.
Stay tuned for more details on this. In
the meantime, get out there and
golf - this is the weather most of us have
been craving. Remember, it is a long
winter!
