The new tee markers are now out.  Final installation and landscaping will be completed in the next couple of weeks.  Renovation of 6 and 9 tees is also complete and the tee is now open for play.  A new cart path was constructed on 1 green to 2 tee.  Please use this cart path if you are driving a gas cart.  Projects projected to be completed this year include new rain shelters at 6 green and between 14 green and 15 tee.  A small patio area will be built beside the half-way house which will hold a couple of tables for you to enjoy your snacks between nines.

As most of you have probably noticed, the back nine greens look a little “funny”.  No this is not a disease and no they are not going to die out.  This is a type of grass known as poa annua.  At this time of year it produces seed head profusely.  This lasts approximately 3 weeks and then these greens will be back to normal.  We are going to implement an extensive over-seeding program on these greens to try and eradicate some of the poa.  We should see results of this next spring.

Hope you are all enjoying the golf course this year and if you ever have any questions pertaining to the golf course, feel free to visit me at the “maintenance shed” anytime.

Thanks,

Fred Schmoelzl, Golf Course Superintendent

Repairing a ball mark on a green takes seconds, but can save weeks of healing to the turf. It's an important thing to do for the course, and for the golfers who follow you.

Here's How:

1.   Use a ball mark repair tool (also called a divot repair tool or greens repair tool) whenever possible.

2.   Insert the repair tool at the edge of the ball mark. Do NOT insert the tool within the depression itself.

3.   Push the entire tool forward from the edge of the ball mark toward the center. Do this around the edges of the indentation.

4.   Do NOT insert the tool under the indented area and push up (a common mistake). Think of it as pushing turf in from the edges toward the center.

5.   Tamp down the repaired area with your putter until the surface is even.

Online Booking Now Available

Now you can book your tee times online through our web site. Simply sign up and log in via the tee-on box (like the one to the right) which can be found on the main page of our web site.

With this service you can book, change and cancel tee times, as well as enter your scores to track your handicap, online, And when our members register for and use this service, it will free up our Pro Shop staff to better serve  those in the Pro Shop who are paying for green fees, renting carts or purchasing golf merchandise. As such, members are encouraged, use the new Tee-On service as regularly as possible.

Of course, our staff is always available to answer your questions, walk you through the program, to book your tee time or enter your score, if you do not wish to do so yourself. Remember, members may book 4 days in advance whereas the general public can only book 3 days ahead, so take advantage of this privilege and book the tee-time of your choice.
