(Volunteers Needed)

Our Junior Program begins July 7th. We require volunteers - you do not have to be a member or even a golfer to help out. Volunteers are needed weekly and are essential for the Jr. Club Championship August 25th. Please see our website for details.

GOLF JOKE
Two Scots

Two Scots, Rabby and Angus are playing golf and come upon a water hole.

Rabby tees up and hits it into the middle of the pond.
He reaches into his bag to find that he is out of balls. He then asks Angus for
a ball and proceeds to hit it into the pond as well. This goes on for 3 or 4 more times and when he asks Angus for yet another ball, Angus says."Rabby, these
ball cost me a pretty penny,"

Rabby replies "Och!, Angus if you cannee afford to play the game, ya should
nee be out here"

Summer's on its way...

Well, the action out here at the course has been increasing. Too bad I can't say the same for the temperatures. Mother Nature can't hold out forever. Besides, summer's almost here.

Our popular Junior program begins again on July 7th. In order for this program to be successful, we depend on the time and efforts of volunteers. If you or someone you know would like to help out, check out our website for full details.

Our Members Opening Scramble was a great day, despite less than ideal conditions. See below for a full summary of winners.

If you're interested in bringing guests to the course, be sure to take advantage of our great golf specials. There's no better time to introduce non-members to our course and to the game!

With summer less than a month away, our tournament schedule is filling up and there are many great events you can participate in. Please support these events by taking part. Check out our Schedule of Events for details.

Well here it is June and where is all the warm weather? Unfortunately with these inconsistent cool-warm weather patterns we are seeing, it is not very conducive to grow grass. This has led to a slower recovery of the winter kill areas. All weak areas have been over-seeded and now we are just waiting for the grass to grow and to start to fill in these areas. If you encounter the odd water sprinkler running during the day, please be patient as we have to keep the new seed from drying out.

Spring aerification is complete and the greens are back to about 90%. A little touch up topdressing is required to fill in any remaining empty core holes. Again thank you for your patience as we completed this.

2009 Ladies League

The Ladies Golf is off to a great start! The weather has been fairly calm and the course is coming along nicely. We have enjoyed getting to know a handful of new members and getting caught up with some of the regular crowd.

We have had a couple of fun events thus far. The first was a challenge to play with three clubs and a putter. The low score of 46 was won by Mary Louise LaBerge and the mid score of 57 was Donna Keller. On the 26th of May we had over 50 sign up for a shotgun scramble with loads of laughs heard throughout the course. Following a great meal of lasagne and salad we offered up a whacky re-gifting prize table which resulted in some treats for some and surprises for all.

Mary Batten walked away with a pedicure kindly donated by member Krista Horan of Krista’s Aesthetics.

The sign up sheet for the Captain’s Cup Match Play is filling up nicely and soon we will begin the matches. Please contact Mary Louise if interested in signing up for this fun competition.

June should bring warmer temperatures and more great fun for the ladies! Remember, we are inviting the Seaforth ladies to play on June 30th. We’ll move on a sign up sheet soon. Stay tuned for more details about that.

Opening Scramble Summary

On May 16, we held our annual Club Opening Scramble with a total of 27 teams participating. Thanks to all who made this tournament a success.  The winners of this year’s tournament are as follows:

1st Overall – Score 59

The winner of our Putting Contest was Jamie O’Donnell with a 55. Good putting Jamie, $165.00 well deserved.

The winner of the 50-50 Draw was Dennis Scherbarth winning $190.00

We also had a draw for a Sky Caddie GPS and the winner was again Dennis Scherbarth.  Congratulations Dennis!
