This fall we will be replacing the over-flow pipe from the big pond on 16 to the
pond in front of 15 green. Every spring we have trouble with this pipe, with the
pond over-flowing into 15 and 16 fairways.
I often get asked what we do in the winter. First and foremost is machine
maintenance. We have an equipment inventory worth hundreds of thousands of
dollars. All equipment gets a complete overhaul. This includes all filters,
oil, bearings, et cetera, plus the sharpening of all reels. In addition, golf
course accessories, including blocks and benches, are refinished or touched up
during the winter months. Of course keeping the roadway, parking lot and
walkways clear of snow by plowing, blowing and shoveling is an ongoing project.
Over the winter, budgets and plans for the upcoming season are created and
submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. Members of our Greens Crew
also attend educational conferences and seminars to stay current on greens
maintenance techniques.
We look forward to seeing all of our members and guests next spring and here’s
hoping for a short winter.
